Title: MAX Tracks
Post by: garretttpe on February 06, 2020, 06:04:53 PM
HI All
Been super busy working in MI, working harder now than when out of the country.....Sorry to hear about your back wedge,
There is a guy selling a MAX and tracks in WV, they are the factory plastic segmented tracks and look to be in good shape based on the 1st set of pics I saw, he said he would sell just the tracks for 400, do you all think that is a good price? I would use them mostly in Maine on the snow and a little her in VA..any thoughts from you guys?

Not bad for just the tracks. But you will need other parts to make your machine strong enough to handle them also. Unless you have 3rd bearing cages already ?

 iagree

Also wheel extensions.  Not sure if you would need axel reinforcement straps or not.  Wedge may know if you would need them.

I already have 3 inch offset wheels, thinking I will probably use UHMW tube and make bearing cages, should be super easy, My new place of employment has a really nice lathe I can use to center drill the 1.5 dia hole for the axel,
Thinking of maybe removing the 72mm outer bearing's and replacing with 3 inch long 6 inch dia UHMW on the outside and 1.5 inch thick on the inside, I have read in the past that this was used on some Argo's with good results, I can easily install a zerk fitting to help keep any water from getting into the tub and or just use a seal

It's hard to tell with those pictures but they don't look to have much wear on the track surface.  When you look at them give them a good inspection but they don't appear to have many hours on them although I could be only seeing the good parts of them.   twoCents

Thanks all for the advice.
It is like pulling teeth to get more info from the person selling them, they are 3.5 hrs from me and I want to ask him questions, It appears I am going through a 3rd party who is also slow at answering. Hate to drive all that way for a bad deal..

Sorry it took so long to respond, Working ma tail off and not much time on my hands while on the road, The tracks were in West Virginia, about 3.5 hrs north west of Charlottsville, VA. I can't remember the town's name, I decided to pass on them as the guy was not responding. my wife found them on FB market place

Finally got a set of tracks form a Member in Texas, the rubber was in fair shape but I got them for the guides as they are in really good shape. Also got a set of ADAIR tracks which were in great shape but sold them to a friend for a Gator 6x4. now Im bumming..lol. will never find another set of adairs for the price and condition I paid. O well. I need snow not mud tracks

my question is, Does anyone know where I can get snowmobile tracks with out the track clip holes cut into them?
thanks
Larry
