I have a 20hp Kioti tractor and it is stored in my garage, every time it is started a poof of black soot come out, everything in my garage has a thin coat of black on it, you cant really see the black but when you go to grab something it is there. the wife hates it. Is there a cheap soot filter I can put on the end of the exhaust pipe?

thats not soot its oil, welcome to the diesel world. you could try running a exhaust hose from the pipe to the outside of the building, like a vent of some kind and even maybe a exhaust fan on it to pull the exhaust out when started.

LMAO, I mentioned that to my wife a couple of years ago and she didn't want to freak with a hose, I didn't realize it was oil, I guess we will have to deal with it until the house sells and we move south and wont need to keep in a heated garage anymore..
Thanks

Alternative is a funnel a flue stack and fan to the outside
Park under the funnel and remember to start the fan before you start the engine. Lit the smoke clear from the exhaust before you drive away. Seen bigger systems at firehouse garages with older equipment with vertical stacks. Nobody likes to clean soot in the firehouse from a fire engine . Maybe on one but not from one
