Ok here is the deal. The fuel shut off Selinoid  ( I think that's the wrong spelling but ?) Shuts the engine down when it loses oil pressure AND when the key is off it closes the Main jet off.
I have found them not to be Vibration friendly and pron to failure !
I ALWAY put an inling fuel shut off valve in all my machines !!!
If you feel ok with the oil pressure and so on you can pull the unit out and SNIP the Rubber Tip off of it.
But it is your call as you own the machine.
If you feel it is a good part find the White wire First and power it up to see if it Clicks open If not it is no good anyway !
It will be located in the Bottom of your carb in the center of the fuel bowl. OR in the side of a bigger carb. You cant miss it !
It is the only thing on the carb with a wire going to it.

Wedge would you recommend me to do the same, and if so teach me. If not I'll try argo 8x8's idea and find the white wire. Do you need the fuel selinoid to work for the machine to run or is it one of those EPA things they need to put on.

The fuel shutoff is the single white wire while the 2 yellow go into the voltage regulator with a single red coming out, which
goes to the + terminal of the battery.  You apply 12V + to the white wire to open fuel shut off, engine has to be grounded - too.

Can anyone tell me the color of the fuel selinoid wire. I see the 2 yellow wires that go to the black box on the side of the engine.  I think that's the coil?  Maybe the rectifier? I've looked at Richards drawling but my wire colors and switch looks different.  23 hp vanguard
