What brand of chain you using ?

We've got Diamond chain on ALL our machines. We also use flame hardened sprockets which are also as old as the chains. When it comes to sprockets, even if they aren't flame hardened, people would have less problems if everything was aligned as close to perfect as possible. When you spin the chain on the sprockets and it's quiet, that's as close to perfect as possible. I have , personally, heard just a whirl. Now that's aligned. Lock it down. If you don't hear quiet, then just adjust some more till that's all you hear. Worth the effort. AND yes, keep the tub, sprockets, & chain as clean as you can to avoid causing more problems down the road.

Remember chain life is greatly effected by sprockets, any wear on sprockets, even if it can not been seen,  will
make even the best chain wear and stretch a lot.  Any older machine will have worn sprockets. :'(

Remember dirt,  out chains run in a very dirty area, as the dirt keeps getting ground into chain and sprockets

I have been using Tsubaki RS chain on my 6x6's
Best deal I have found is looking on E-Bay . Hate to say it but if you keep an eye out for it there you can score a Great deal. It is Costly and can be had from supply companies like MSC and Granger . But I got all my #40 & #50 from there for A lot less.
what Chain are you all running ? Have you had Good or Bad luck with on or another brand ?
A member is wanting info on the best chain he can use and where to get it so lets fill him in if we can  ;)
