Title: smoking belt

my belt stated smoking and engine got in a bind. sticks are sloppy, could this be a driven clutch problem. t20 in a swamp fox

Sounds like a Drive problem ?
Did you Bind her up real bad ?

no it did good about 2 months ago when I broke an axle

Did you Check your Tranny Fluid ?
I would look at it to make sure your T20 is in good shape First !
Then make sur the rest of you drive system is working rite !?!??

Had that happen one time, the engine mounts broke on the opposite side of the clutch lifting the motor when under load.

the brakes are acting crazy too. sticks seem looser

how do you know the belt is smoking, can you see it or smell it. or IS IT THE TRANS ?

I did notice the driven clutch shaft moving in and out of the t20, cant be good

I got it apart, moving out the way with 1 axle out

how far, in and out should be no more than about 1/8 inch

It will have some movement but Not A lot.
Sounds to me like a Bind somewhere ?
But Hard to say with out seeing t ??
Best thing to do is start from Point A to point G on the drive system.
If the Engine mounts are god as WFO said then look at the Drive clutch. Then to the Driven Then Tranny.
Then the Main drive an so on.
You will find the Problem for sure !

just tied it again the left side is grinding and wont move looks like a rebuild on the 20

right side works as should but sloppy left was binding up but now grinding both ways and you can watch the shaft move a good bit. just an old diesel mechanic but I know that much in a box aint good

you Drain the fluid and it will tell you quick !
