Anyone here have one Whole or Parts ?
Rebuilding one and would like info or parts.
Also show yours as thy are not a lot of them still out there !

Got the tranny Hooked up and engine sorted only to find he mounted it on Soft rubber stands ?
Spool it up and the clutch pulls the engine to a 45 Degree angle ! LOL!!
So off to make a new engine mount at the shop Saturday.

is the engine rubber mounted? one or the other should be a solid mount. preferably the trans.

He had it mounted with a steel plat with Rubber stand offs mounting it to the stock mount. Thy where about an inch tall and when the clutch started to close up it would try to pull the engine and tranny together ! I mean BAD ! It looked like the engine was going to Twist completely around !! but lower also. Had it Fired off last night and looks all good ;D
Just need to center my drives up but would like a new belt to do that .

New Belt is on. Engine tune set. Tranny all hooked up Just need to finish the New starter panel and paint the wheels and hubs after a good blasting.
Then on the ground and running ! ;D

Down to final Wiring now But not sure if I want to go Tractor style Key switch or Toggle / Push button ? :-\
Any thoughts out there ?? popcorn

A key switch could help keep youngsters (kids, grandkids etc.) and others you don't want jumping in and just going without permission. On the other hand you won't misplace or lose a toggle switch and push button. Depends if you plan on keeping it or selling it. A key may be better if you plan on selling.

You have a good point ! I just worry about water getting in the switch and so on ?
I will look into a switch with a outer seal on it.

Got 4 out of 6 wheels and hub's blasted and Painted and put a LED tail light on the body. Was doing my Wiring last night and DUMBY ME Fried the Coil !!!!
So Have a new one coming today and Learned a Wiring lesson :-[ today !

These Import Engines have more Wire's and feed than I am use to working with !! But It is what it is !! :-\

OOPS. Be grateful that it doesn't have a computer. Then you'd be taking it to a dealer.

I WORK on the Computer deals All week ! Had a Lexus tell me it was on a hill after I got it down off the lift and it would Not move Till I reset it's Brain to say HAY P.O.S your Level !!

Ok Time for my Happy Dance ! banana dance banana dance dance banana
Got the new coil in and wired up all my elects but the Stator .
Ran her and Oiled the chains and tested the tranny and I am HAPPY !! banana
Pu a LED tail light on it and think I am going to put LED Head lights in it also.
Run Very STRONG !! Also put a Battery disconnect =on it.
Here is what I have as of now. A NEW AMPHICAT !

That was a BAD move on his part ! Just the Start up made the Body HOT !! I knew it would Melt under a good hard ride ! >:D
Plus I am a sucker for Stacks ( Heavy truck mechanic ) And it Sounds Great !!
Going to use the Hole in the side for a Bilge pump if need be ?

That's a nice looking Amphicat. I've only seen a handful in person and none were that nice.

I have everything done BU the Stator wire hook up ! Giving me a Real pain at the moment !!
But it is due to me Not knowing what I am doing on the wiring set up.
I am Planning on getting her out this weekend if the weather hold up.
Two more wheels to paint and two hubs to paint and she is done !
I will put the LED head light s in after I get it out of the shed.
I am looking forward to a ride around on here as it sound Strong !!!

Ok here we go ! I got home from the shop and was all Pumped up to get the Cat out. So I aired up the tires. Pushed her out and Fired it up. All good But the carb like to Flood a little But I can get to that.
Ran like I stole it !! Turns on a Dime and is Faster than I thought it would be. Played with it some then back to the shed for a Beer and POP !
Pushed it Back in the shed and I have a Blown Left side drive sprocket ! That's cool as I was not real happy with the way it looked but thought it would be fine ?
The BAD Part is it Tore the Side cover to $hit when it broke !!! :'(
Now I am Screwed as I have NO idea where to get parts for this tranny ! :-[
Man I Wish I just had a MAX 2 !!!! :-\ :-\ :-\

Aww.. NUTS. :( :( Reminds me of a JLO single cylinder we had once that ran like a SOB & proceeded to blow the piston rod right thru the case. No pop. More like a Kaboom. If the tranny is still fine, then all you have to do is get a new sprocket. Think positive. If it was going to happen, it just did. You'll get it fixed.

I use to have 3 of these trans on the shelf back in the day but now there not around much.

Well...An object in motion remains in motion until...the side cover stopped it.
You're a problemsolver, so if Plan A doesn't pan out then there is always a Plan B in line. I know, it's still a bummer.

Does that sprocket have a keyway and 2 setscrews in it? It looks very thin walled to me!! Was this a custom made sprocket??

I Didn't like it when I put it together ! It was also Ground down A lot .
But I was all into getting it together so I let it fly. My BAD !!
As you said I think also it is Not a Factory part !
If it would have just broke I would be good to go. But it had to take the side cover with it !! :-[ :-[ :-[

bad timing, too bad MXI can't release the new T-21 yet. that would be the ultimate upgrade. Im just glad the T-20 that I purchased was before m depleted the stock. whistling

Going to pull it out and compare the spec size to the T20 I have out of the StarCraft.
A Mount is not going to be to bad as there really close in size. It is just I Didn't want to start a New Project build as I have one already !!
But it is no good the way it sits :-[
If I get a good Offer on her it is time to let someone else take over ?

One Problem I face is This machine use's ALL #40 chain

not only that but the internal gearing is probably different , the T-20 i think is 4 to 1 so if it is diff then you will probably have to loose those large sprockets maybe a plus.

Wedge, so what exactly is wrong with the trans?
Just a side plate?
I can make that and the sprocket.
But # 40 chain will always be a problem.
When you get the side plate off take some pics from both sides.
And close up of the sprocket.

It tore the outer out put shaft up pretty bad also.
WFO got me thinking that the T20 Upgrade may be the way to go as I can step up to #50 Main drive chain also.
And by the time I get a sprocket (that's the cheap part ) I have a source for sprocket blanks here in pa as there are a LOT of Gear makers here locally . But the cost of making a New side plate ( Your time is money and I respect that !)And Still needing main shafts it will be the same as getting a good used T20 . Thy Both hook up damn near the same if you close at it !

But To Cover myself a little the guy I bought this cat from apart have the tranny Powder coated and Epoxy painted !
So after talking to Whipp and WFO I go out and yank this pig up out of the machine only to find much to my surprise This .

It was not the case at all but just the SEAL !! banana
Did a Tear down and I think I am sitting pretty good as I found the seal at ( didn't get tore up at the # !) :o
And I really don't think I Bent this shaft Just scared it up some.
Tranny Is NEW inside just like he said So off to get a replacement sprocket .
Wow did I Think the worse !!
But hay its hard to see down in there ! :-\

I can turn some off to get my clearance !

I have 1 max 2 left and 5 attex. I know what you mean about that!! Luckily I have full access to a machine shop at work and some very good guys to either do the work or I'll do it myself. With a lil bit of advice here and there!! LOL

I wish I had a MAX 2 again ! Also I was hoping to try another ATTEX but just haven't gotten there yet.
I picked this CAT up as it was a good deal and always liked them but really want another max. Just every one I look at is ether Beat to crap or Way over priced !!

Well I put the tranny back together after I put new seals on both the outer and inner shafts. I checked everything for run out and we are good. Just waiting for the sprockets to get here then back in it go's
While I had the chance I Reset the carb float and changed some fuel lines around. I am Hoping the guy didn't mess with the jets as it looks like it was out ? I Hate when stuff is messed with before being test run !!
So We will see on Shake down run #2 ??

Tranny seam good to go but will find out this weekend when I have time to get her out for a run down.
Now after I run her down again it will go up foe sale .
As I want a Max 2 ! PLus I need to finish my StarCraft !!!

I Really like the Cat but It will NOT stand up to the kind of riding I do !!
So I would rather have someone who also likes the amphicts own it a respect it as a true Collectors 6X6 !
Plus I Like to Build them as much as I LOVE to run them !!

Let me know when it is time to sell, As I mentioned before my older brother had one when I was about 10 or 11. and is about 6 hrs from you. And it would be babied for sure. Just something for him to drive down the street once in a while and a conversation piece for his shop. He makes anything and everything out of used wine/whisky barrels from furniture, dog beds, bars, tables, gas fire pits. if someone can think it he can build it.

Well no cat out of the box today :-[
I wanted to go over the sprocket arrangement and when I remover the Left Main drive sprocket I found the Shaft had been Brazed up and The bearings ran Lose !
I Could have left it as it was running BUT I DON'T THAT KIND OF WORK !! 8)
So Off to find a replacement and put new bearings on it.
Wow you just don't know the work that go's into these machines to make them dependable !!
So back to the drawing board ::)

Is that a part you can have made at a local machine shop? If it is that might be a faster way of getting a replacement.

Well I got it out and gave it a Good shake down run. Ran it across the road in the Fields to a Woods with trails and so on. Was a BLAST !
Worked 100% ;D
Runs Great and the tranny works Great !! I am VERY HAPPY WITH IT !!!
Not sure if it will hold up to the trails at Pine Lake ? These older body's don't like big rocks !
But I am still thinking of going.
Went over it when I got it back to the shed and all looks good .

Great news about the Cat. No rocks to worry about at Pine Lake except maybe the creek but they aren't bad. Have fun with it and look foward to seeing you at Pine Lake.

The Muffler broke loose at the bottom so I need to rework the mount so the stack won't shake it to death.
I just put a used one on for now to run it around. Will see how it go's today whistling

I got it out today and put it in some very good DIRT Hills and off camber deals Plus a Good Trail ride and I will tell you it is as good as a New Machine !!!!! ;D

I found that running the rear cover on that it builds up WAY to much Heat .
So I am putting Vent Holes in it so it will Breath :)
I made it so I can run with out it also but Gets a lot of dust and so on in the tub. Plus I want to run it this winter in the snow.

Ported the intake while I had the carb off for a stuck float. Reassembled and did a drive chain adjustment and ready to go play with it Sunday .

Put LED Lights in the cat today. (front) Really like how thy look !
Did a side by side to show how it out shines the older style bulb ;)

Work. There Maxima and not real cheap But have a 5 year warranty !!

I had the A,Cat out in the snow last night and what a Great time we had ;D
Those LED light's are really nice even mounted that low you could see everything around you. This was the wife's First ride in it and she had a good time after she saw she would Not fall out of it hilarious
Say's it needs a SISSY BAR in it ? whistling Told her I would just teach her how to run it and the Max so she could just go out with me in her own machine. Looks like I may be getting her Hooked banana

Had a guy from Gettysburg get ahold of me looking for wheel. Well it turns out he has an Argo and 2500 acers of land to play on and no body around to ride with ! Till Now banana
Taking the A,cat there Sunday to blow the dust off her and test it out some. Going to turn him onto the site also ;)

Just got home and must say I am Very happy with th A,Cat ! banana
Stuck rite with that New Argo up the Greek bed and in the swamp Other than some Sticky stuff I knew better than to take on with the Small Chevron tire. But Made a Hell of a day with it and it Never missed a Beat !! dance dance
Came home Muddy and running so that's a Plus ;)
Going back with the Max as soon as my seat are done and in. Will try and get my Park & Play working by then so I can get some Vid to post. Didn't get time to stop and take pics as I was having a Blast !!!! ;D

I am really happy to see that it held up to a Day of riding in the woods and river bed ! Not bad for a machine this light and made in 1970 banana banana
