Hi everyone!

I've tried to post a "hi" message with a few pictures a few times but something seems to be wrong with my system so I decided to go simple.  I'll keep my introduction short and to the point - and without pictures - sorry!

I'm scratch building an 8x8 that is loosely based on an old Max ATV that I bought years ago on the cheap.  I scrapped 99% of the old machine but did keep the general approach to how it was designed.  Plus, I kept the old T-20 and control linkages.  Everything else is new, store bought, or custom built.  I am building the frame from scratch using aluminum and the overall dimensions are 4 ft. wide by 8 ft. long.  Not sure how tall it will be yet, but I want the final vehicle to somewhat resemble the US Army Stryker, only a lot smaller.  We will see.

Anyway, after I figure out why my pictures didn't upload, I will post a few for you guys to shoot at.  I'm not a master mechanic or even a novice build artist.  I'm just me.  I am fairly mechanically inclined and have picked up welding recently.  Cool stuff melting metals together.  I can tell you that TIG welding aluminum is tough.  At least it is for me, but after a few weeks, I am getting decent at it.  Well, at least I think so.  You guys can bust me for my ugly welds.

I'll read over the posts you guys have been uploading.  Lots of good information out there it seems.

Thanks for letting me in the door and hope to communicate with youes guys real soon.

Joe

Just me for now whipper. Haven't been doing much. Sold house and moved shop and all across town after 31 years for gathering stuff.  What a job.

I've only been an argo owner for about a week. There'll be more details on that when I post a "build thread" in the Argo section.

Was browsing around 6x6 world for ideas and saw the springers, but all the posts were old and the new ones seemed to indicate there was some kind of fracus that drove them off.

Then saw whippa's (is that right?) video on youtube of him stripping off 6x6 world stickers and that led me here.

I'm looking for info on springers and hopefully those that have already built them are willing to share with my build up.

I'm a DIY guy, so I'll be fabricating most of my own parts.

Oh yeah, I'm in Nova Scotia Canada.

I have one of Whipper's kits on an Attex. They're awesome! I've had mine almost 9 and a half years. It's my favorite ride.

He designed kits for the Attex, Max II and Max IV. Last I heard, he had one available kit left for a Max IV. He never designed a kit for an Argo.

On the other site (back before it unraveled)  there was a thread on an Argo springer. A guy in Canada had designed one that looked pretty decent. There was talk about him selling a kit but I don't believe anything ever came of it. That was at least 5 years ago. I know there were a handful of videos on YouTube. Maybe they're still there.
