AMPHICAT

WFO, that doesn't look like a Cat to me unless they had a different body style at one point. Do you have a copy of Sid's book to check?
-
yea I am looking at it right now. sure looks like a catt
-
The body lines look similar to this one that says Chapparal on the side....

So was Chapparal a band of these, or is that a model name?

Thanks... and of course the standard question, how much should I be willing to pay for it? Ran a year ago, parked since.

YOU GOT ME ON THAT. depends on mods and such, what kind of trans makes a big difference the ones that were factory aren't very good from what i here. if its been upgraded to a T-20 then thats half the battle. get other opinions first before plopping down the $
-
T-20 ?
is that the belt drive or the differential mechanism....srry total noob
-
the diff mechanism , the belt is running the clutches
-
If you can post a picture of the mechanicals and the engine and transmission that would help give us a better idea about it.
-
That is a Later model Chaparral. It has the T20 in it also. I just made a complete set of chain rub blocks for a customer who is building one. If you can get more pics of it inside and out. I would stay around the $500 to $1000. range as parts for it will need to be made. Also looks like the lower tub needs some love ! kik

I found a pic of the engine and drivetrain... Looks like a T20, yes?

What year would you expect?
Seller is asking $1000

YEP T-20 see if he can get it running and if the trans works ok. if it goes into reverse, drive and turns then 1 k would be ok . lets see what WEDGE has to say

iagree

295 JLO single . As I said before if it runs and move on it's own that makes it a better deal BUT Also every thing for it will have to be Made. There is Just NO Parts around for them. But all in all it is a Nice machine to start with . On the Down Side the body is Hard Plastic and tuff to repair . I would hit him at $700. on the High side But try a little lower to start. It is a good Yard machine But Not a Hard Trail runner at best.
BUT Ya NEVER KNOW ?

The ABS bodies on the Chaparrals are very thin and notorious for breaking up. I'd be surprised if the underside of the body was still intact. That would be another thing to check, and would drive the price down if it is busted up. The drive train is pretty stout in the Chaps, so that is usually not a problem- #40 chain on the final drives, but it never was a problem in either of mine.
