I'd really like to see the book. I remember reading about it coming out quite a few years ago, but it is impossible to find any copies. Is it possible that someone on here may be able to create a PDF of the book to post on the forum?

I think I posted in the Mystery Machine thread, also, that the book was copyrighted in 2010 Sid Wallach.

It specifically states....

No part of this book may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted by any means without the permission of the author.

For more copies of this book, please contact
Recreatives Industries, Inc. at 1-800-255-2511

Since Mr Wallach passed away and no one can assume how it was intended to be used or sold after his passing, it wouldn't be a very wise idea to go against his instructions. I wouldn't suggest a PDF of anything from it unless permission was given from someone official. Who knows, maybe someday it will go to the printers again.  It's his work & legacy. That needs to be respected. :)

Wedge,
I think that probably is the nicest local machine, I've been watching the black max ii also. Hope something works out that I can get another machine for my wife, she's finally on board for a backup amphib and possibly get rid of the quad.

I don't really care for those jackshafts either. Did max ever do away with those in newer machines??

What..you don't like the jackshaft? rofl To our knowledge, RI continued to use them in newer machines.

The book was titled THE SIX-WHEEL DRIVE AMPHIBIOUS ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE STORY BY Sidney Wallach.
It was copyrighted in 2010. A bunch of copies were brought to the Pine Lake race in 2010 & could be purchased then or by calling RI directly. All the copies they had might have been sold & don't know if there are any left or where one could even get one now IF there are any copies available.

According to Sid's research in his book, there were no less than 79 different ATV's that they could identify. Almost all dating back to the late 60's & early 70's. Kinda think some of them would be close in specs to one another.

Wow. I woulda guessed 40 at most!!

OH NO not a Buick !! hilarious
I thought the set up was close and so on. Just never had one to put to the test.
Thy look like thy have the same room But I do know you sit a little Lower in a Max 2.

I thought that was the vehicle of choice when over 60? Like an unwritten law or something.  hilarious

Actually, I feel like I'm sitting lower in the Attex. And in an Attex, I can put my feet against the front wall to brace myself, but in a Max, my legs aren't long enough to reach the wall to brace myself, so I had Whip put Velcro straps so I can keep my feet/ legs from flopping around. The "compartment" is smaller in the Attex. But if you only go 5-10 mph, none of that how to brace yourself matters, does it?

I have both machines and she's right about havin somewhere to plant your feet. I prefer the attex for that and I don't have to split the body open to work on an attex and I can handle my attex better because I'm not bouncing and sliding cause my feet can't reach the front to plant them! And I drive like a madman more than not! LOL. and I don't really care for those jackshafts either. Did max ever do away with those in newer machines??
