I understand the work to play cinario. I still would like to redo the entire max 4 somewhere around feb or March if your interested. I just saw whippers pic of his springer which gave me the idea of putting the steering controls next to my seat instaid of reaching out in front.

Took the bearing cage to a machinist on fri he said the reason the axle broke was because the bearing cage wasn’t tru to the axle so it crystallized the steel. He’s making a new one now that is heavier than the old one. Hopefully I’ll get it in on mon, so I can get back to working with the machine, I still have approximately 12 ac of phrag that needs to be matched down. I was supposed to be done by thanksgiving, will see.

Haven’t removed the axle yet but it’s not broke at the snap ring, or between the sprockets, it seems to be right at the tub. And yes the air in the tire was way too much. I’m not going to post how much let’s just say 2 much. I’ve spoken to mike over at Richards and he recommended to get the axle out first then start ordering parts. FYI they have been great.

Air pressure in tires means a lot, you should be running the less possible, from 1-3 psi at most. Higher pressures mean
the tracks are " pulling" forward way to much making axles snap. Keep in mind axles should break before one bends the weak
frame. Hope this helps a bit. Dave

Richard should have just about anything you might need for that Max.
Tracks cause a lot of stress on a drive train. Lot's of maintenance.

2000 max4, solid splined axles, bearing extensions, rubber tracks, 23 hp vanguard that usually runs at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle for what I use the machine for. I purchased the 2 rear axles last year, I broke 1 so figured it would be best to replace both.

We will try to help, but tell us more. What machine? Splined or bolted axles? Tracks-rubber or plastic. Bearing extensions or not? Dave
