Reversing Transmissions
« Reply #1 on: December 26, 2022, 01:01:33 PM »
All,

In my search for a 6x6 project I have done some reading and watched some videos and I have a pretty basic question for the group.  The Sierra Tail Boss, Muscateer, and probably others, can be reversed by pulling back on the handles.  This seems to be a significant improvement over the T20 and similar types that require a separate shifter.  Why this feature not universally adopted?  i see that it is still not used on the current Max and Argo vehicles.  Is this due to expense, patent rights, reliability, or do the single transmissions offer some other benefit?

Thanks,
TJ
