that's unfortunate. A nice deck that overlooks the lake would be awesome for a nice relaxing evening until the mosquitoes showed up.

my wife came up with an idea on making a deck on wheels, that way it is not a hard structure and will just roll it away after the fall,
that is one way to beat the system

How will your Amish friend preserve his moose meat without electricity and freezing it?

No deck of the door, Maine has strict shore land zoning laws, but I am grandfathered in to remove it and build a 1000 sq foot place if wanted

Sounds like your turn is coming soon. I remember your wife bagging one either last year or the year before.
Your camp looks like you can add a nice deck off of the sliding glass door.

ASCAW
Yes my wife and I can enter next year as I was not picked this year, being an "out of stater now" I can put unlimited chances, they only pick 10 percent to out of state ppl, I have been collecting points every year as I have been applying for points and not the hunt as I have always been gone, This year I applied for the hunt, My wife has been picked twice in 8 years and bagged one each time, both while I was gone

Sounds like the hunt worked out well. The Amish don't mess around when it comes to a barn raising. In '85 we had some storms with tornados come through the area here and the Amish community had a couple buildings destroyed. They had it cleaned up and started raising the new buildings the next day while everyone else had to wait for insurance to assess the damage. They were pretty much done before most even started.
Too bad you have to have the septic work done but that does look like a nice setting. Can/will you enter the lottery for a moose next year?

the barn raising was this week, burnt down Monday, roof on and dried in yesterday, AMAZING, shot was about 100 yards, met an old French guy who drove his Kioti tractor 2 miles with a hyd dump trailer into the woods and dragged it out for us then just drove the dump trailer onto my trailer and dumped the moose, easy peezy.
My camp is awesome, thank you, got my quote for the septic and it will be 18-20K but it is needed, will be awesome next spring summer and fall, attached is a pic of it, the best part it is in the middle of Maine hunting zone 3 which is prime hunting

That’s a very nice bull. Glad you got out with your friend. I only got out 2 days this year.

WFO
Would love to but can't, It was my Amish friends permit, His family's barn burnt down on Monday the 1st day of the hunt and they have 12 kids, this moose came at the right time and will feed them for the winter, the barn was used to make and repair buggies for the community so what little income he brought in just stopped.
